All Hands on DeckSt. Johns Athletic Association (SJAA) exists to develop young people through athletics, building the skills, character, and habits that outlast any single season, because how they grow matters more than how they score.
Founded by St. Johns families, for families
Our philosophy: development over outcome. Wins are welcome, but they are never the measure. We measure success by whether kids got better, stayed safe, loved the game, and grew into good teammates. This principle shapes every decision we make, from coaching to governance to how we spend every dollar.
The St. Johns Pirates were founded by local parents and coaches who believe youth sports should be about more than the scoreboard. Our inaugural season kicks off in Fall 2027 with Youth Tackle Football and Sideline Cheerleading for 100+ young athletes, with registration opening in Spring 2027.
We are an all-volunteer nonprofit (EIN 43-2268034). No one at SJAA receives a salary, and every dollar goes directly back to the kids—certified helmets and pads (which must be ordered by June 2027 at $140 per full player kit), uniforms, fields, coaching certification, and keeping registration affordable. No coach serves on our board, and every coach is background screened under Florida Statute 943.0438.
Most of all, we are a crew. Players, cheerleaders, coaches, families, and volunteers all have a role, and no one sails alone. We teach Character, Respect, Effort, and We Before Me—lessons that stay with kids long after the final whistle.
